On 28 October, a security researcher announced publicly that a “domain controller-level” intrusion at the Kudunkulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) took place. According to the researcher, the compromise resulted from a Dtrack malware infection.

Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center announced new activity allegedly linked to APT28 (also known as Fancy Bear and Strontium), which began on 16 September and targeted a number of national and international sporting and anti-doping organizations.
GEOPOLITICS
Hong Kong entered a technical recession in Q3 as pro-democracy protests continued. While Beijing is unlikely to use overt coercive measures to end protests, the government will likely increase cyber operations targeting dissidents which could directly and indirectly impact businesses.
