CYBER

Reported Incidents Industry Impacted: Information Technology

Supply chain attacks targeting major cybersecurity firms Avast and NordVPN, as well as multiple attack waves targeting design offices and service providers in France were reported in the last week.

 

 

Threat Actor Activity Industry Impacted: Government

ESET researchers detailed the latest activity, dubbed Operation Ghost, attributed to the Russia-linked APT29 (also known as The Dukes and Cozy Bear). The cyberespionage campaign targeted several high value government entities, and involved an arsenal of tools including multiple new malware families.

 

 

GEOPOLITICS

On 22 October, the UK parliament backed Prime Minister Johnson’s Brexit Withdrawal Agreement Bill (WAB) in principle, however a Brexit on 31 October is unlikely. Apart from economic and political implications, Brexit will likely also impact cybersecurity.
