Industry impacted: Consumer Discretionary, Government

On 01 February, attackers published 15 GB of data to an underground forum, exposing customer and sales data belonging to GEDIA Automotive Group. The data appears to be the result of GEDIA not paying a ransom demand after the company became compromised by ransomware in 21 January.

Researchers at ESET discovered a new campaign attributed to the Winnti group, an alleged Chinese state-sponsored umbrella organization, targeting several universities in Hong Kong.

The FBI Director warned on 06 February over China’s continuous attempts to acquire US sensitive technology and proprietary information ”through a wide range of actors”. The FBI is currently investigating around 1,000 cases of Chinese technology theft.
